Areeda’s passion for carrying on the tradition of southern foods heightened when she realized her favorite dessert, fried peach pie, was becoming “extinct” from the family reunions. Using the old recipe that had been handed down from her mother and grandmothers, she carefully tweaked it and created her award-winning recipe which won Best of Show at the 2007 Tennessee State Fair, her first venture into baking competition.
